Looking after the iPro and Moor farms grounds

We are delighted to have a great long-lasting relationship with Derby County FC. Throughout this relationship we have been fortunate enough to design, build and maintain the main pitch at the iPro stadium as well as the training grounds at Moor farm.

Resurfacing

The work required full removal and resurfacing of the iPro pitch. 4,800 tonnes of material and 5,200 tonnes of new material were brought in to form a new lower and upper rootzone whilst increasing the grassed area by one metre all the way round.

The process didn’t finish there, the completion of the pitch saw synthetic fibres stitched into the grassed surface, leaving Derby County with a playing surface fit for any team.

At Moor Farm the objective is to replicate as much as possible the playing surface of the stadium, all training pitches needed a topsoil strip, subsoil remodel, topsoil replace, piped drainage installation, sand amelioration and relaying.

Irrigation and heating system

In with old out with the new… Talbot removed the old irrigation and under soil heating systems to allow for new and improved technology. Taking advantage of this technology allowed Talbot to provide Derby County with an elite playing surface that is consistently compliant with FA standards.

Drainage

We pride ourselves on our knowledge and execution in effective drainage systems, with Moor Farm being another example of our outstanding work.

The works included installing a Sport England Type 4 (pipe and slit drainage) pitch construction to the match training pitch, the 2 first team training pitches and, the first team pitch.

The wettest February ever was recorded in the season after the new drainage systems were installed, but the pitch remained playable and performed admirably, a credit to Talbot’s efforts (a far cry from the Baseball Ground).

Maintenance

Due to our great relationship, we are delighted to be contracted to do maintenance throughout the season and annually for Derby County. We ensure they consistently have the best performing and up to date systems and surfaces in the football league.
