Project planning
Here we are in Germany in Autumn 2023 sourcing trees for a project starting in Spring 2024. Our customer (an internationally renowned educational institution, resident in central London) provided a clear arboriculture design prescribing the trees desired to deliver the required colour and texture to the sustainable landscape planned for the college grounds.
The end view will be stunning with Quercus Palastris, Liriodendron Tulipiferia, Pterocarya Fraxinifloria, Acer Rubrum, Magnolia Grandiflora, Liquidambar Styraciflua, Catalpa Bignoniodes, Amelanchier Lamarckii and Juglans Nigra to name a few.
European supply chain
In the Autumn, we reached out to our supply partners and ring fenced the trees and fixed the pricing for next Spring . Here are on site in northern Germany hand picking the trees.
After this we will ship the trees to the UK, handling all the import questions and store the trees at our nursery. We will position the trees safely and our arboriculture team devise and implement a care plan for the trees.
We have the specialist equipment to hand to move and irrigate the trees during the care plan and to effect the final relocation to the client site for installation. The installation includes all excavations and tree pit drainage pipework.
We will perform all excavations, cart-off excess soil, level out the base to receive gravel, layer the gravel to prescribed levels and apply sustainable permeable membrane, anchor the tree, wash the tree pit subsoil, grade the subsoil to plateau levels, provide the timber formwork, walk-in premium topsoil and finish-off with bark as required.
This project also involves us undertaking 12 months tree maintenance post installation. Talbot has an Integrated Management System to ensure consistent application of quality controls. At all times we keep the client’s project manager informed of our progress via informal calls and texts and more formal sharing of communications.
We also source trees and other green assets from all the best suppliers in the UK.
