We joined other trades and volunteers to support the BBC1 building renovation show which returns to TV on Friday, October 3, with Isla’s story, the first in the new series.
Eight-year-old Isla from Aylestone in Leicester has been living with a rare genetic condition, Mandibuloacral Dysplasia. Her condition affects bone growth and causes premature aging of major organs.
Project planning to the usual high standard
Our engagement involved significant planning of materials, time and labour. Coordinating our work in a busy multi contractor environment, high standards of HSQE were applied including during the TV filming – that’s full PPE (Hi-vis, hardhats and steel toe-capped boots) .
Specifically we brought landscaping equipment and resources to support the building of soft landscape areas, planting of trees and shrubs and laying of new turf.
DIY SOS said “we received more than 1,000 volunteer applications to help renovate Isla’s home. Some 160 volunteers have now made this life changing project happen. Their generosity in selflessly sharing time, skills and hard work to achieve the transformation in a very short time period”.
